Casualty shocks viewers with massive Dylan cliffhanger

Casualty delivered another big shock this week by ending on a big cliffhanger for Dylan... and viewers cannot believe things were left so uncertain.

The doctor was caught up in the brutal relationship between Ciara and husband Joel, the latter of whom beats his wife after seeing Dylan calling her.

However, the biggest twist was yet to come, after an emotional episode that explored the harrowing realities of domestic violence.

First off, there was a lot of love for Shaheen Jafargholi – aka Shakil from EastEnders – who debuted as new nurse Marty:

However, the episode opened with a shocking moment, as Joel attacked wife Ciara after seeing a call from Dylan:

She was later admitted to casualty, and despite Ciara's denials of anything happening, Connie intervened after seeing a bruise and suspected domestic violence.

Viewers were left heartbroken as Ciara faced up to the truth of what was happening to her:

Though they were annoyed when an intervention from Dylan set things back:

Later on, with some encouragement from Dylan, Ciara faced Joel and called things off.

However, Joel later chased Dylan and Ciara in his car after spotting them leaving the hospital, and things were left on a massive cliffhanger after the latter two were seen about to collide with another car:

Overall, viewers praised the episode for its sensitive depiction of domestic violence:
