Casualty spoilers follow.

It's a new season and with that comes a whole new bunch of spoilers, and this time, it's Casualty's turn.

From exciting returns, to sad exits, to some very shocking twists, here's what is in store for the ED clan over the next few months:

1. Connie's exit

Say it ain't so! But sadly, it is. Fan favourite Connie Beauchamp will be bowing out of the ED this spring, with her exit story due to play out over the next few weeks.

Following the return of her daughter Grace, Connie will find herself under increasing pressure when it comes to balancing her personal and professional life.

As Grace continues to suffer as a result, Connie will ultimately decide that it's time she took a break from her fast-paced job and spend more time being a mum.

Amanda Mealing has already filmed her final scenes in the role, which will air on screen in a few weeks' time. But not before one big twist...

2. Faith's big decision

The breakdown of her marriage to Lev will lead her into Dylan's arms, but how long will their loved up bliss actually last?

Sadly, not very long. After enjoying a night of passion with Dylan, Faith will get an unwelcome bump back down to reality when her daughter Natalia runs into danger.

Natalia's predicament reawakens Faith's doubts over whether she is really willing to leave her marriage, but where does this leave a crestfallen Dylan? And how will Faith handle a rapidly unravelling Lev?

3. Jan caught out

She has embarked on a life of crime to protect her son Ross, but Jan risks losing everything when the truth comes out.

Upcoming scenes will see Jan continue to smuggle drugs into prison, but as always, the truth eventually unravels – with huge repercussions.

"Jan's wife Ffion starts to realise something is wrong", Di Botcher – who plays her – said to TV Times recently. "Then her colleague Iain catches her doing something illegal and unethical. Jan is so ashamed."

4. Iain's return

He's coming home! That's right, popular paramedic Iain Dean will be heading back to the ED very soon, with Michael Stevenson reprising the role.

Iain swapped his ambulance duties to join the HEMS team back in 2019, but will be heading back to Holby just in time for Jan's story to implode.

When Iain learns what Jan is up to, he will take matters into his own hands to try and protect her – but could he have bitten off more than he can chew?

Teasing Iain's comeback plot recently, Michael said: "Iain's completely shocked to discover the mess Jan is in. He'll stand by her side, but with Ross in prison, it's not simple."

5. Marty's shock discovery

Marty has been billed as the one to watch this series, with a brand new story on the way for him kicking off shortly.

When Marty discovers that his mum Bibi has been secretly living in excruciating pain following a medical procedure, he vows to expose the people responsible. But could this involve Marty turning against some of his own colleagues in the process?

6. Jacob's controversial new story

He recently made the tough decision to move on from his on-off love interest Connie Beauchamp, but that doesn't mean life will be any quieter for kind-hearted nurse Jacob Masters. In fact, Jacob has got a contentious story on the way that could rock fans to the core.

"We have a big, big storyline that is on the way", Charles Venn – who plays him – recently said to Digital Spy.

"Unfortunately, I've been trained by the Casualty snipers not to say anything at this stage [laughs] but I can assure you that it's a story that will definitely raise eyebrows. It's something people are not going to expect.

"It's going to be great though. It will raise eyebrows and people are certainly not going to expect it from Jacob. That is being filmed as we speak, so stay tuned."

7. Grace's terrible mistake

She's only been back for five minutes, but Grace is certainly making her presence felt. Grace will grow closer to David's son Ollie in upcoming episodes, but that's not necessarily good news for their parents.

After one terrifying near-miss, Ollie will find himself in danger again – prompting Grace to take matters into her own hands to save him.

While we're sworn to secrecy over Ollie's fate, the consequences will be catastrophic for both Grace and her mum Connie, who will begin to reevaluate her own future as a result.

8. A new struggle for Jade

Last year, viewers got an eye-opening insight into some of the challenges Jade faces as a deaf nurse in the ED, and her story will continue to be explored in future episodes.

A heartbreaking moment in the show's spring trailer sees Jade being shoved onto the ground, before tearfully saying "people treat me like I'm less than them". What has happened to Jade and who will be there to support her?

9. Connie's replacement revealed?

It's been a talking point since Connie's exit was announced, but it's now looking like her former enemy Ciaran Coulson will indeed be replacing her as the ED's new Clinical Lead.

The closing moments of the trailer that dropped on March 12 saw Ciaran waltz back into the hospital, heavily hinting that he could be there to stay.

Fans will remember Ciaran from his brief, but memorable, stint back in 2019, when he was introduced as a new problem for an already- struggling Connie at the time.

Casualty continues tonight (March 13) at 9pm on BBC One.
