Casualty spoilers follow.

Casualty star Gabriella Leon has spoken about her character Jade Lovall's attack storyline.

In scenes airing tonight (April 24), Faith Cadogan and Jade's night on the town turns nightmarish when a predatory figure slips drugs into the latter's drink.

Woozy, she's dragged from the club by this man before he crushes one of her hearing aids. He throws her to the ground in an alleyway and prepares to assault her, before Faith turns up just in time and he flees the scene.

Speaking to Inside Soap, Gabriella spoke of Jade's reaction to being spiked.

"It all happens so quickly that it's hard for Jade to pinpoint exactly what's happened. Like the horrible reality for many women who experience their drinks being spiked, Jade's loss of control of her body is a clear indicator that something is very wrong," she explained.

"I think there's a real struggle to regain control. She's trying to steady herself, and actually realising she can't do that is really scary. There's not much Jade can do, and she's very vulnerable. It all get serious when Faith can't find Jade at all, and she has absolutely no idea where Jade is."

Expressing how she found shooting this storyline, the 25-year-old added: "It's very challenging to tell Jade's narrative in these episodes and not be affected by it.

"Jade goes on such a journey with herself. I hope this storyline raises more awareness around drink-spiking and encourages more women to see they're not the problem."

Casualty airs these scenes Saturday, April 24 on BBC One.
