Casualty spoilers follow.
Casualty's Fenisha (Olivia D'Lima) is set to hear some devastating news about Ethan (George Rainsford) and their newborn Bodhi.
As the pair manage their co-parenting responsibilities together, they decide to play a game of two truths and a lie. But things escalate quickly when Fenisha accuses Ethan of being boring with his stories.
Ethan has been keeping a secret and when he's at work, one patient reminds him how important it is to keep family close. During his next game with Fenisha, Ethan decides to tell her that he has the Huntington's gene.
After sharing his secret, Ethan adds the heartbreaking news that there's a 50% chance that Bodhi could also have it. Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, George explained how Fenisha will react to Ethan's bombshell.
"There is this enormous elephant in the room about the Huntington's. They are getting on very well but there is still this big issue they need to discuss. The closer they get, Ethan feels that he needs to tell her everything," he said.
"Connie pointed out that it could be selfish, but because they are getting on well and there is a chance of having a family unit – however conventional or unconventional – he really feels that he needs to be honest as they can't make it work without that. He really wants her to trust him."
When Fenisha finds out Ethan's news, she realises why he was reluctant to commit to her when she was pregnant. But she is forced to put her feelings aside and tells Ethan that they will get through it as a family.
George explained: "Understandably, she's devastated. She then starts to piece together his behaviour and realises this is why he didn't want anything to do with them to begin with.
"Ethan never wanted to burden her with that. He never wanted them to grow up without him, or for Bhodi to get Huntington's – there are so many things he couldn't cope with and she starts to understand that.
"What is surprising is how grown up she is about it. Fenisha has been through the mill with the pregnancy already, it's been one thing after another. She realises they can't carry on with all this drama. They have got to make it work somehow."
When asked whether the pair could have a romantic future, George revealed that he is hopeful because they've been through so much together.
"I think so," he said. "So much has happened between them and there is clearly an attraction there – we've known that from the start. They've been through the wringer and I think there could be some light at the end of the tunnel. There is a lot more to explore between Fenisha and Ethan, their relationship definitely takes a few twists and turns."
Casualty airs these scenes on Saturday, April 24 on BBC One.
