Casualty star Rebecca Ryan has hinted that her character Gem Dean could one day make a return to the medical soap.

The actress, who has also starred in Shameless and Waterloo Road, bowed out of the BBC One series in August 2019 after her character decided to swap the emergency department for a life abroad.

As of yet, there are no official plans to bring Rebecca back to the soap, but she's refusing to rule out the possibility of a return.

In an attempt to kill some time in lockdown on Friday (April 17), Rebecca hosted a Q&A on Instagram, and when asked if she thinks she'll come back to the show, her response was hopeful.

"I absolutely loved working on Casualty. I'd love to go back. Who knows, you never know. Gem's not dead yet," she said.

Later on in the Q&A, Rebecca also revealed that she'd happily sign up for Strictly Come Dancing and/or I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!

"I love Strictly," she said. "It's like my all-time favourite and I'd love to learn all dances and wear all the costumes and the make-up. And yeah. I'd be quite intrigued to do the jungle."

As well as sharing that she'd like to get the Shameless cast back together for another season, Rebecca further admitted that she'd be interested in joining Emmerdale or Coronation Street.

Casualty airs tonight (April 18) at 7.25pm on BBC One.
