Casualty cast member Adele James has broken her silence over exiting as Tina Mollett.

It's been a rollercoaster ride of late for her character: telling Jacob Masters that she's pregnant before threatening to hurt herself with a syringe, and then viciously attacking Iain Dean in one final act of hysteria.

Following yesterday's (October 9) shocking scenes, the actress celebrated her time on the BBC One medical soap with an Instagram statement.

"Farewell T," it began. "Thank you all for the support you've shown @charles_venn and I whilst we journeyed through this very difficult storyline. If you have been affected by Tina and Jacob's story, please do seek out the relevant help and support safely.

"I don't have all the words right now, but I will soon. Until then, take the best care."

As you'd expect, James's fanbase wasn't far behind with its congratulatory comments – two users wrote back: "WOW! Amazing work from both of you" and "Amazing human. Well done!".

"You both did amazing well done" and "What a journey! You did this storyline justice and you did it incredibly! Good luck for the future!" read another pair of messages.

Tina isn't the only character to leave the ED lately either, as back in September, Jade Lovall (played by Gabriella Leon) realised that what she needed was a nice fresh start somewhere else.

Lean emotionally paid tribute to her time on the soap, stating: ""Jade will always be very special to me, and what she meant to a lot of the fans. I am very grateful I got to breathe life into her, it's the end and beginning of a great chapter in my life and career."

Casualty airs on Saturday evenings on BBC One.
