Casualty taken to Newcastle RVI after collision 'involving a bus' in Hetton-le-Hole
One person was rushed to hospital following a collision understood to have involved a bus in Hetton-le-Hole.
The incident occurred shortly after 10am and took place at the A182 junction with the B1285 in the town. The police and ambulance services were among emergency responders at the scene and one person was taken to Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary.
The roads affected were closed for much of the day, but had re-opened by 3.45pm. The regional traffic management team reported the incident had involved a bus.

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 10.08am on Thursday 16 January to reports of a road traffic incident on the A182 junction with the B1285 in Hetton-le-Hole, County Durham.
"We dispatched an ambulance crew, a specialist paramedic, and a clinical team leader to the scene. One patient was taken to the RVI for further treatment."
Earlier, Northumbria Police had confirmed attendance at the scene and urged motorists to avoid the area. A spokesperson for the force said: "Shortly after 10.10am today (Thursday), we received a report via the ambulance service of a collision on the A182 in Hetton-le-Hole, close to the junction with Colliery Lane."
