The characters of Casualty are in for a rough autumn if this new trailer is anything to go by.

This new collection of clips released by the BBC today (September 14) tease some of the storylines we can expect over the next few months, and Archie and Ethan are front and centre.

We know a bit already about Ethan's romance with Effie, who... well, let's say that she has an interesting relationship with the truth.

His string of ethically questionable decisions look set to continue, as his tampering starts to get noticed. It looks like Rash is going to be drawn into things too, as he will be forced to take on an operation that is above his station in Ethan's place.

Beyond that, Archie will struggle under the pressure and shock of a patient's revelation, while Charlie and Duffy will continue to try and stay positive over the latter's dementia.

Beyond that we've got some dramatic voiceover ("What if there's no coming back from this?"), a look at new paramedic Lev and a crumbling roof.

If you want even more teasers of what to expect for the rest of 2019, Digital Spy recently spoke to producer Loretta Preece, who spilled the beans on all the major storylines we can expect.

Casualty continues on Saturday, September 21 on BBC One.
