Casualty spoilers follow.

Connie Beauchamp (Amanda Mealing) is set to make a devastating decision in the wake of Noel Garcia's tragic death on Casualty last week.

During its return over the weekend (January 2), the soap dedicated an entire special episode to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and in heartbreaking scenes, much-loved receptionist Noel lost his life to the virus.

In new scenes, Connie will feel guilty and grieve for her former colleague as she also tries to balance her relationship with Jacob Masters (Charles Venn).

Jacob makes a deal with her – he will cook dinner if Connie manages to leave work on time, though a distressing case with patients Cindy and her son Shane starts to pile more pressure on her psychologically.

Pressure is also building for Connie in the emergency department as she needs to attend an important board meeting and also has strict instructions to remove the flowers put in the foyer as a memorial for Noel.

Connie tries to balance these decisions while determined to leave work on time to see Jacob, but she starts to struggle when a card arrives from Noel's daughter, Honey.

When Connie makes a disturbing discovery about Cindy and Shane, she is left very shook-up and meets Jacob outside, who assures her that she does not have to grieve alone for Noel and they could build a happy life together with him to lean on.

Nevertheless, Connie realises she just can't balance her personal and professional life and needs to be focused on her work right now. After telling him to go home, she goes to the board meeting.

It comes after Amanda Mealing previously suggested to Digital Spy that there was more heartbreak coming for Connie and Jacob.

Casualty airs on Saturday evenings on BBC One.
