Cat Deeley was left red-faced during today’s helping of This Morning, after presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield shared some very old footage of her.

The 43-year-old was left giggling with embarrassment after the ITV daytime programme managed to dig up her chemistry test with Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly before she was hired to present SM:TV Live with them.

The trio fronted the children’s morning programme from 1998 to 2002, and have recently confirmed they have filmed a reunion special to celebrate Ant and Dec’s 30 years on screen.

Shutting her eyes and biting her finger, Deeley cringed as the video showed the three looking very young as they sat on the This Morning sofa for their previously unseen screen test.

Deeley looked right at home as she sat alongside Ant and Dec, revealing her name Cat was short for Catherine but joking they can call her caterpillar “if they really want to”.

While Willoughby and Schofield laughed and described their screen test as sweet, Deeley was far harder on her younger self.

“They were talking about showing the screen-test,” she explained. “I said to Dec, I don’t remember anything about it at all.

“I just remember we were on the [This Morning] set and that was it. When they showed it, because you always check out the barnet and what you’re wearing, and I’m like, ‘I’m okay, I’m having an All Saints moment, I’m okay.’

“And then Ant had that fringe and Dec had that big collar. But I’m very Brummie!”

Deeley, who has recently moved back to the UK after 14 years forging a hugely successful career in the States, also teased a few more details about what we can expect from the SM:TV reunion show.

“We shot a documentary and we talked about all different things, how we first got together how we first met each other, all the things that went wrong in the show,” she said, before revealing it took some time for the threesome to find their feet.

“It went quite badly at the beginning, but we turned it around,” Deeley continued. “We found the chemistry between us.”

Deeley has had to face an onslaught of old clips this week, with her appearance on BBC One’s The One Show recalling an old clip with the star talking to Mariah Carey.

Deeley, who also hosted So You Think You Can Dance, has since revealed the SM:TV Live Reunion will be a particularly emotional one, with all three stars crying while back together.

“We went back to the studio where we did it. They rebuilt the set. We all cried,” she told Chris Moyles on Radio X.

"I walked in and they were doing their interview and Dec was crying and I was like 'ok you’re crying!' and then at the end of my interview I was like 'waaah!'. We all have a bit of a cry, we take the mickey out of each other, it’s very, very, very cute."

This Morning continues weekdays from 10am on ITV
