'Cat Swinger' Hands Himself In To Police

The man allegedly caught on CCTV swinging a cat around by its tail has handed himself in to police, the RSPCA says.

A statement released by the charity says a 20-year-old man from Ramsgate voluntarily handed himself into Margate Police Station and is now helping with enquiries.

It said: "We would like to thank the media and the public for their help in our appeal following this incident involving a cat being swung by his tail."

Footage of the incident showed a man appearing to dance down a road in Ramsgate, Kent, while swinging the animal around by its tail for around 30 seconds.

It prompted widespread outrage and an appeal for information about the abuse of the cat - called Mowgli - from the RSPCA.

Owner Michelle Buchanan, an IT teacher from Ramsgate, said of the attack: "It's horrific. I can't believe anyone would do something that cruel.

"Mowgli is emotional. He's just distraught. He won't go out the door."
