'Catastrophic' Flooding Submerges Cars in St Louis

“Catastrophic” flooding affected St Louis after more than nine inches of rain fell overnight July 25 into July 26, the National Weather Service (NWS) said.

The record-breaking rainfall caused flooding in a number of areas in Missouri, including Brentwood and Hazelwood.

St Peters measured more than 12 inches of rainfall.

Brandon Jones said he filmed this footage on Tuesday morning in St Louis. The tops of several submerged vehicles are visible above the floodwater.

“Every car going up the street, floating,” Jones says in the video. “My car, you can’t even see the roof anymore […] I know my basement is gone.”

BRANDON JONES: Natural Bridge and Marcus. This must be what the-- what Katrina looked like right here, boy. This is, look, every car going up the street, floating.

Like, straight floating. This one fully gone. My car, you can't even see the roof anymore.

Luckily, my truck got rims, it's sitting up a little bit. But I don't even know if that can be saved. Oh my god, man, you straight can't. I know my basement is gone.

Oh, man. I'm straight stuck. I can't even go nowhere. I'm stuck and can't even go nowhere. Man, man, man, man.
