Leading Brexiteer admits May coup is over for now
Jacob Rees-Mogg has said the plot to oust Theresa May as Tory leader has stalled.
The backbencher claimed a number of MPs are waiting until December to submit letters of no-confidence in the Prime Minister with the intention of triggering a leadership contest.
Mr Rees-Mogg submitted a no-confidence letter in Mrs May last week and urged other Tories to do the same.
Terror as skyscraper lift plunges 84 floors
A group of diners, including a pregnant woman, had a narrow escape when the lift they were in plummeted 84 floors towards the ground.
Six people were inside the lift in a Chicago skyscraper when it malfunctioned, sending it hurtling towards the ground.
Everyone inside survived after the lift came to a halt just 11 storeys from the ground.
M&S under fire over ‘sexist’ Christmas window
Marks and Spencer has come under fire over a new Christmas window display that describes ‘fancy little knickers’ as a ‘must-have’ for women alongside a picture of a model in her underwear.
The same display shows a male model wearing a suit.
The image was shared by Sian Steans, a member of Nottingham Feminist Action Network and Feminist Friends Nottingham.

Council removes mystery Saddam Hussein bench tribute
A plaque dedicated to former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein has been removed from a bench on a busy east London shopping street.
The unusual tribute appeared in Wanstead, reading: “In Loving Memory of Saddam Hussein, 1937-2006.”
The photo, which appeared on Twitter and was shared thousands of times, provoked a mixture of outrage and confusion among locals and around the world. No one knows who put it there.
