Catherine, Princess of Wales met a young girl stricken with cancer on another public outing since completing her chemotherapy.

The royal mother-of-three, 42, told the world she was “cancer free” in a statement released on 9 September, and has now marked her journey back to public life by hosting a 16-year-old called Liz at Windsor Castle, alongside her 42-year-old husband Prince William.

A picture posted on the royal couple’s Instagram page showed the aspiring photographer teen hugging Catherine – with a second image showing the princess and William standing alongside Liz, who is from Harrogate, and her family, including her mother Vicky Roboyna, stepfather Aaron and brother Mateo.

The caption on the photos said: “A pleasure to meet with Liz at Windsor today.

“A talented young photographer whose creativity and strength has inspired us both.

“Thank you for sharing your photos and story with us. W and C.”

Liz was diagnosed with desmoplastic small round cell tumour in January, which prompted her to start a “bucket list” appeal to pursue her passion for photography – which she shares with Catherine.

She has been told she has between six months and three years to live.

Liz was invited by the royal couple to take photos of investiture recipients receiving their honours from William and learn about pictures taken throughout her visit.

The teen shared the image of her hugging Catherine on her social media, and captioned it: “Such a lovely, genuine and kind people. “I’m over the moon that my family and I had this experience.”
