Catherine Tyldesley 'overjoyed' after giving birth to baby girl

Catherine Tyldesley has given birth to a baby girl.

The former Corrie star shared a sweet snap of her new arrival on Instagram.

The black and white photo showed the baby's tiny feet.

A message penned by her husband Tom Pitfield said: "We are so happy to announce that our beautiful daughter has arrived. We are grateful beyond words and feel overjoyed that our family is complete."

The pair didn't share the name of their new arrival.

Tyldesley, who also has a seven-year-old son, revealed last year that she was expecting again.

She told Hello! magazine at the time that her husband was "in bits" when they found out that they were adding a little girl to their family.

"He has suddenly gone all mushy," said the star. "I'm sure she will have him wrapped around her little finger."

The actor recently joked about feeling like she'd been pregnant for ages.

Sharing a snap of her bump on Instagram, she joked: "Apparently an African Bush Elephant is pregnant for 22 months!!!! I fear that my body may have me confused with an elephant! It feels like I’ve been pregnant since 1942…cherishing PJs, a bump and copious amounts of pineapple while I can!"

Tyldesley, who is best known for playing Eva Price on the cobbles, was inundated with messages from friends and fans after sharing her lovely news.

"Congratulations," wrote fellow Corrie star Sally Dynevor, while Katie McGlynn, another star of the soap, gushed: "I can’t wait to meet her.”

Cast member Mollie Winnard posted: "AHHHHH, congratulations! Absolutely over the moon for you. Sending lots of love to you all."

Dancer Johannes Radebe, who Tyldesley was paired with on Strictly in 2019, wrote: "Congratulations fam! Can't wait to meet our princess."
