Catholics join Philippines Easter celebrations after years of COVID ban
Catholic devotees in Manila flocked to Quiapo Church on the eve of Easter Sunday to witness the heartwarming "Salubong," a traditional re-enactment procession of Mary meeting Jesus. The footage filmed on Saturday (April 16) shows crowds watching the procession, a beautiful church in the background and fireworks in the night sky. After two years that religious gatherings were banned due to COVID-19, devotees were happy to finally be able to join the traditional procession again. The Philippines is the only predominantly Catholic nation in Asia with 86% of its population being Roman Catholic.
