Cause of fire at Benwell home which left porch damaged under investigation
An investigation is ongoing into the cause of a house fire which resulted in a blaze breaking out close to the entrance of a home.
Emergency services were called to a blaze at a property on Inchberry Close in Benwell on Tuesday. Photos of the aftermath show significant damage to the porch roof and attached bin cupboard, as well as smoke damage to the door at the front of the property.
A Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We can confirm that on Tuesday 27th August, we attended a house fire in Benwell, Newcastle.
"A crew from Newcastle Central Community Fire Station and Swalwell Community Fire Station attended the scene alongside Northumbria Police.
"Thankfully, no persons were injured, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation."
