India Willoughby has entered the Celebrity Big Brother house on a mission to clear up people's misconceptions and educate people on what it means to be a trans person.

But it looks like she is also hoping that her time on the show will allow her to reconnect with her estranged son.

Speaking to the Daily Star before entering the famous complex, India said that she has not spoken to her 19-year old son Rhodes since September.

The star said that her relationship with Rhodes isn't in a great place because of her transitioning, and wants that to change.

"I'm looking forward to week three when you get a letter or a visit from the outside and that would be very moving in my situation," she told the newspaper.

Plenty of viewers are expecting India, who is the UK's first trans newsreader, to clash with Ann Widdecombe, who voted against LGBTQ rights during her time as an MP.

Following on from India's positive reception on Twitter, bookmakers have currently placed her as second favourite to win the series, with odds of 8/1, only behind former detective Maggie Oliver who sits at 3/1.

The theme for the current series is 'Year of the Woman' and until Friday, all of the housemates are female. Once the men enter, however, they'll find the women are wearing the trousers.

Celebrity Big Brother airs nightly on Channel 5.
