While another famous face was given the boot in tonight's (January 23) Celebrity Big Brother, it was time to catch up with John Barnes following his shock eviction on Monday.

With the women nominating Barnes alongside Daniel O'Reilly after the battle of the sexes task, there was sad news that one celeb wouldn't be getting the usual fanfare.

Barnes slipped out without the other housemates noticing, leaving the men to wonder where he had gone.

The 54-year-old said there were no hard feelings in the Diary Room, but was it still the case now?

The footballing legend spoke to Emma Willis about how it felt being the fourth housemate given the chop, but he didn't seem too bothered about his backdoor departure.

"I've been hiding away, but I've missed it so much. I've had to hide in the room for two days. So to celebrate, I walked all the way down to the studio. I tried to get back in, but I don't think they would let me."

The chatterbox chap reflected on leaving in secret. "I preferred it, because coming out to all the pomp and ceremony, I like to just keep out the way," he revealed

Barnes left just days after he was accused of making 'homophobic' comments, which obviously popped up in Willis' questioning.

"I was very disgusted with suggestions of me being homophobic," he said.

"We would've had it out there and then and I'm sure Shane would've been on my side, because that is not how it happened."

He continued: "The discrimination we all feel is exactly the same, and I have spoken about this for 20 years in schools and universities. For me to come out to that was a big shock."

Willis closed the interview telling Barnes that he'd used all his time talking about one issue, to which he replied: "I had to."
