CCTV appeal after knife and axe-wielding robbers leave man in hospital

Police have issued a CCTV appeal after three men reportedly armed with a knife and small axe robbed a man in broad daylight.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was in Clitheroe at around 1.50pm on April 29 when the offenders approached him. Lancashire Constabulary said the incident happened on a grass area through a ginnel accessed via Salthill Road.

They stole cash and a mobile phone and left the victim with an arm injury. He was taken to hospital for treatment.


Officers investigating the robbery now want to speak to the two males captured in the CCTV footage. Anyone who recognises them, or who has any information, is being urged to contact officers.

In a statement on Facebook this afternoon (May 29), Ribble Valley Police said: "Do you recognise these people? We want to speak to them in connection with a robbery.

"We received a report at around 1:50pm on April 29, of a robbery on a grass area, through a ginnel accessed through Salthill Road, Clitheroe. A man was approached by three people and was threatened with what is described as a knife, and a small axe.

"Cash and a mobile phone were stolen. A man in his 20s suffered an arm injury and was taken to hospital for treatment.

"We now have some moving footage of two people to show you. We appreciate this isn’t of the highest quality, but if you do recognise the people in it, please get in touch.
