Northumbria Police have issued CCTV images of two women they would like to trace after a pensioner reported having her purse stolen in Eldon Square.

It was reported that whilst passing the Next store on Blackett Bridge, the victim, a woman aged in her 80s, felt a slight push to her shoulder. It wasn't until she later felt another push to her shoulder and realised that her handbag was open, that her purse had been stolen. The purse contained £40 cash, bank cards and a driving licence.

An investigation is ongoing following a report of the theft at Eldon Square Shopping Centre at 2pm on Friday, June 14. And today (Thursday) officers have released images of two women they would like to speak to in connection with the report.

They were both in the area at the time of the theft and officers believe they may have information which could assist their investigation.

The women, or anyone who recognises them, is asked to contact Northumbria Police by sending a private message on social media, using the live chat on the Force website or by going to the Provide more information to be added to a crime report | Northumbria Police page on the website.
