CCTV image released after 87-year-old woman 'robbed' in Hull
Police have issued a CCTV appeal after an 87-year-old woman "fell to the ground" during an alleged daytime robbery in Hull.
Officers investigating the incident, which happened in the early afternoon last Tuesday (January 21), say they are now in a position to release CCTV of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
As reported, police believe the woman may have been pushed from behind during the incident when her handbag was allegedly stolen. At the time, police said she had been taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries.
Updating on the investigation, Humberside Police Detective Inspector Jason Gourley said: “It is reported between 1.25pm and 1.35pm that an 87-year-old woman was walking along Nidderdale, near to the junction of Airedale, when for reasons that are not yet clear, she fell to the ground. Enquiries are continuing to establish how the woman fell, but we believe she may have been pushed from behind.
“A man riding a bike nearby is then thought to have approached the woman in an attempt to assist her, before he allegedly stole her handbag and fled the scene along Nidderdale in the direction of Holwell Road.
“As part of our enquiries over the past week, we are now in a position to release an image of a man we believe may be able to assist with our enquiries.
“If this is you, or you know who it is, please contact us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference 25*9061.
“We would also continue to appeal for the two people we believe came to the aid of the woman who could be key witnesses to come forward.”
