A pensioner was followed from behind before being attacked for his wallet in an early morning robbery. Police have today (December 4) released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident.

Greater Manchester Police says it was called out to reports of a robbery at around 6.30am on Saturday, November 9. The force says that the victim, a 70-year-old man, was walking home from a a 24-hour shop in Cheetham Hill.

He was followed along Bury Old Road towards Salford, before being attacked from behind on Upper Park Road, in the Broughton Park area. GMP says the pensioner's wallet was taken during the incident and he suffered minor injuries.

A GMP spokesman added: "Investigating officers have now released an image of a man they would like to speak to, as it is believed he could help with their enquiries." Anyone with any information is asked to contact police directly by calling 0161 856 5134 or 0161 856 5272.
