The eldest daughter of Cecil Parkinson, the late Conservative Party chairman, was found dead at her home nearly two years after the death of her father.

Mary Parkinson, 57, battled drug addiction, mental health issues and prostitution early in her life, and struggled to cope when it emerged that her father had fathered a lovechild with his secretary.

She was discovered by a neighbour at her terraced home in Wandsworth, southwest London, on Sunday, according to the Telegraph.

Ms Parkinson had recently reconciled with Lord Parkinson, whom she was said to adore.

But her father's death from cancer in January 2016, aged 84, reportedly triggered a renewed struggle for Ms Parkinson.

Scotland Yard said they had been called to an address in Battersea shortly after 9.30pm on Sunday night following reports of concern for the welfare of a female resident.

A spokesman said: “Officers attended along with London Ambulance Service colleagues and discovered a female, believed to be aged 57. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

“At this early stage the incident is not being treated as suspicious.”
