Celeb Race Across the World's Scott Mills addresses husband age gap
BBC Radio 1 and 2 DJ Scott Mills has opened up about the age gap between him and his husband Sam Vaughn on the latest Celebrity Race Across the World.
In the second episode of the second season, which aired tonight (August 21), the celebs had to travel across from the first checkpoint in Canoa Quebrada to Lencois. The journey took them from the northeast of the country to the centre.
During their travels, a local made a comment about then-50-year-old Scott being then-34-year-old Sam's dad — which they noted makes a change from people calling them brothers. It prompted him to address their age gap and how he feels being the big 5-0.

"I am a bit in denial about my age," he said in a confessional. "I don't know how you're supposed to feel. People say, 'oh, your knees'... I feel the same.
"I forget there's an age difference between me and Sam. He's a bit old for his years, and I'm a bit young. We meet in the middle."
Later on, as they spent the night hanging out with some young backpackers and talked to them about Scott's long presenting career back in the UK, Scott admitted to feeling like chasing his career at young age had some drawbacks.

In another confessional, he explained that he got into radio at 16, and that meant he missed out on youthful things like being a university student and backpacking across the world.
"Sometimes you see younger people and you're like, 'actually, i should have done that'" he said.
In terms of the race, television host Jeff Brazier and his son Freddie arrived first, Ted Lasso's Kola Bokinni and his cousin Mary Ellen jumped up from a distant fourth to second, and Kelly Brook and her husband Jeremy Parisi arrived third.
Scott and Sam didn't even make it to the checkpoint by the episode's end, and they were instead stuck on a bus with an open toilet that was overflowing with a sloshy brown liquid.
Celebrity Race Across the World airs Wednesday nights at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer. Previous episodes of the celeb and civilian versions can be streamed on iPlayer.
