Celeb SAS star Bianca Gascoigne's heartbreaking health condition as she 'wanted to be in a corner'
Bianca Gascoigne has opened up on her struggle with antenatal depression during her pregnancy with her first child. The glamour model and former Love Island winner is the daughter of television personality Sheryl Gascoigne and Coik Kyle, and the adopted daughter of former footballer Paul Gascoigne.
She's about to take on a huge challenge as she takes on brutal SAS training in the latest series of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins on Channel 4 tonight (Sunday, 22 September). But Bianca has already faced tough times in her life.
The 37-year-old discussed her heartbreaking battle with antenatal depression as she was pregnant with her daughter, Blake Sunshine, last year. Speaking on Sophie Kasaei’s Unmasked podcast, Bianca says she was left wondering whether she would be able to bond with her newborn. She said: “We weren't trying, it just happened straight away quickly before I even knew.
“But I had a horrific pregnancy. I was depressed. Antenatal depression, I didn't want to be pregnant.”
The Celebrity Big Brother star continued: “I just wanted to be in a corner I just wasn't me at all. You're supposed to be so happy and like, ‘this is the best time of my life’ and that makes everything worse.
“I was just thinking ‘no this is awful I hate it,’ throughout the whole time. I was having a c-section and I said to my mum, ‘I don't know about this, I don't know if I'm going to have a connection."
Bianca admitted that things changed quickly once she woke up from the c-section. “But then I came back around and when I looked at my baby I thought, ‘she’s amazing’ and I felt this protectiveness," she revealed.
“It was just the weirdest thing and the depression went like that. I know it's not like that for everyone, but for me it was such a difference because I was in such a bad place and then like I was like ‘I want another one.’”
Although her depression has lifted, she admits that she is not totally back to normal. She added: “I'm still suffering from my hormones now. I get quite aggravated very easily.”
Bianca shares her daughter with her fiancé Arron Wright.
