Joe Sugg defeated James Blunt to win Star Baker in the The Great Stand Up To Cancer Bake Off.

The YouTube star and You’re Beautiful singer took part in the Channel 4 celebrity baking show alongside The One Show host Alex Jones and TV presenter Alison Hammond, and in the final round were challenged to make a biscuit structure representing what they had aspired to be as children.

Sugg, 28, revealed he had wanted to be an archaeologist when he grew up and created pyramids and a tomb filled with ground almonds for judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith to excavate fossil-shaped treats from.

Leith, 80, declared: “I think it’s exquisitely done. It’s delicious.”

Hollywood, 54, who had earlier given Sugg a handshake for his signature traybake cake told him: “You’ve done an amazing job. Flavour and display - superb.”

Announcing Sugg as Star Baker, Leith said: “Joe had to win Star Baker. He was so original and the way he’d done his tomb excavation was so well thought out.”

Former-army-officer-turned-pop singer-Blunt, 46, was close competition after creating an impressive gingerbread pub.

The crooner, who in 2018 became landlord of The Fox & Pheasant in London’s exclusive Chelsea, said: “I always wanted to be a pub landlord and I have just bought a pub.”

Blunt quipped: “The licence says no music by James Blunt. What we do when we want people to leave is put on You’re Beautiful and it clears the pub out.”

TV presenter Jones, 43, revealed when she was a child she wanted to be a travel agent when she grew up, while This Morning presenter Hammond, 45, said she wanted to be a police officer. She laughed: “I just think I was destined to serve and protect.”

Jones struggled to bake her biscuits on time after smashing the bowl containing her first mixture and having to start again, while both she and Hammond struggled to stick their biscuits together.

Hammond said: “I’m so embarrassed. Can I hide when we show these off.”

Sugg bounced back from a bumpy start to the show - fainting in the first five minutes.

The social media influencer - who lives with professional dancer Dianne Buswell who he met while competing on Strictly Come Dancing in 2018 - cut his finger and them passed out at the sight of blood.
