Celebrity Big Brother confirms all-female series to honour centenary of women’s suffrage

After months of speculation it has been confirmed that the next series of Celebrity Big Brother will launch with an all-female cast of stars to mark 100 years since women won the right to vote.

The Channel 5 reality show hopes to explore how the women interact when it’s just them in the house, although male contestants will enter the show later on in the competition.

Speaking about the show, Channel 5 said in a statement: “As the male counterparts enter the house, the housemates will take part in a series of entertaining tasks and hidden experiments which will test their – and our – assumptions, challenge gender stereotypes and reveal fascinating truths about what it is to be a woman – and man – in the 21st century.

“See what happens when women hold the power, as Celebrity Big Brother January 2018 is set to be celebratory, surprising and insightful.”

Emma Willis will return as the show’s girl-power host, with Rylan Clark-Neal continuing to present sister show Celebrity Big Brother’s Bit On The Side every weeknight.

A source previously claimed that show bosses were hoping to mix up Big Brother’s format following a decline in ratings, with the insider telling The Sun at the time: “Channel 5 wants to make a real splash as part of their women’s vote celebrations.

“They are keen to cast opinionated women like Germaine Greer over no-mark reality TV girls who look good but have little to say or bring to the conversation.

“Bosses are expecting cat fights galore, plenty of tension and clashing personalities.”

The new series of Celebrity Big Brother will kick off in the first week of January, so there isn’t too much longer to wait!
