Celebrity Big Brother: Viewers divided after Shane Jenek pulls down Andrew Brady's trousers
Forget Ginuwine and Ashley James, the most fascinating relationship in this year’s series of Celebrity Big Brother is between Apprentice star Andrew Brady and Australian drag queen Shane Jenek/ Courtney Act, with some viewers – and even their fellow housemates- adamant that there is “sexual tension” between the two men, even though Andrew identifies as straight.
However, things have taken a turn in the famous house, with Shane dividing viewers after he pulled down Andrew’s trousers during last night’s [14 January] episode.
As the pair made their way to the bedroom, Shane told Andrew to stop before pulling down his trousers.
Andrew laughed, joking: “That’s assault!”, throwing Shane over his shoulder as the Ru Paul’s Drag Race star replied: “That’s not assault… This is!” As he once again pulled down Andrew’s trousers and seemingly bit the businessman on the bottom.
Andrew did not seem bothered by Shane’s actions, with the pair continuing to playfight on the sofa, with Big Brother eventually asking Shane to stop piling cushions on his housemate.
Some viewers were outraged that Shane did not get a formal warning for his behaviour, pointing out that if a man had done the same thing to a female housemate then there would have been uproar:
Seeing as Andrew and Shane have insisted that they are just 'friends' and Shane knows that 'consent is sexy'…What he just did there with Andrew was very uncomfortable to watch. #CBB

Oh my god, Shane J should not have done that to Andrew. If that was a man doing that to a woman, there would be uproar #cbb

I liked #shanej up until now. The thing with andrew at the end was just dispicable behaviour. Behaviour that warrants removal. If Genuwine did that to Ashley there would be uproar. #cbb

If Ginuwine and Ashley were in the same situation as Shane J and Andrew were, and Ginuwine did what Shane J did to Andrew, he’d be removed from the house. Just saying. #cbb

Others dismissed the upset, insisting that it was clearly banter between the two friends and that Andrew did not seem bothered by Shane:
Oh for gods sake, people getting on their high horses about assault on #cbb. @courtneyact and Andrew were messing about! If Andrew had said stop or had shown any sort of distress or discomfort then fair enough, but he was laughing and engaging with Shane. Chill people!

The majority of my closest mates are straight lads, I see absolutely nothing in this Shane and Andrew thing but mates messing around. #cbb

If it turns out that Andrew was uncomfortable/upset with what happened with Shane then Shane should get a warning/punished. However from what we can see ATM, Andrew saw it as a joke and they continued messing around after. I'd say the same if it was any housemate. #CBB #CBBUK

BEFORE ANYONE calls out @CourtneyAct for pulling down Andrew's pants it's VERY different when the person is EVIDENTLY playing along and play-fighting back. "Consent is (still) sexy" So don't come for Courtney as a hypocrite when the scenario was harmless fun between mates. #CBB

Celebrity Big Brother have since confirmed that although Shane did not receive a formal warning for his behaviour, producers did speak privately with Andrew to ensure that he did not feel in any way violated by the antics.
