Celebrity Big Brother's Chantelle Houghton splits with fiancé
Chantelle Houghton has confirmed she's split with her fiancé.
The Celebrity Big Brother winner announced back in April 2020 that Michael Strutt had popped the question, but things didn't work out and the pair have gone their separate ways.
Speaking to OK! Magazine, she explained: "It was amicable and we are still very friendly. At the start of the year I moved out.
"With lockdown, I think a lot of people probably started relationships and we moved in together really quickly.
"I think that it put a lot of pressure on things and it just fizzled out."
She continued: "Sometimes things just don’t work out and you can’t stay in an unhappy relationship."
Chantelle added she's still looking for love, but joked: "But now, if there’s one red flag, I’m running."
She told the outlet: "I know what I want and I won’t settle for anything less – but I still believe in love."
Chantelle and Michael got engaged last year following a whirlwind three-month romance.
She said at the time: "Ok, I know it’s lockdown and isolation but he just asked me to marry him: I said YES. I will love him forever."
Chantelle was previously married to Ordinary Boys singer Preston after meeting in the Celebrity Big Brother house.
They tied the knot in 2006 but split just 10 months later. However, they have stayed friends since their relationship, though previously ruled out ever getting back together as a couple.
"I think it would ruin a really important relationship as it stands," Preston told The Sun at the time.
"It has been a really useful thing to have a blunt voice – someone who I can just call who will tell me, no bullshit, what's going on."
Chantelle added: "I just think for me there will always be something. I will always love you."
"And we've been through something that's almost so mad," Preston added.
