The latest series of Celebrity MasterChef is slowly heading towards its semi-final, as more famous faces got put through to the next round last night.

Friday's episode (September 20) saw Olympian Greg Rutherford, boxer Dillian Whyte, actress Elizabeth Bourgine and Motown legend Martha Reeves compete against each other to advance to the next stage of the competition, with two of them not making the cut.

After cooking for previous Celebrity MasterChef winners Kimberly Wyatt, Ade Edmonson and Lisa Faulkner, it was decided by John Torode and Gregg Wallace that Greg and Dillian would be advancing to the semi-finals.

That means they'll be joining Neil Ruddock and Joey Essex (from heat one) and Jenny Ryan and Dom Parker (from heat two) in the next round.

Another group of celebrities will be heading to the MasterChef kitchen next week in a bid to make the semi-finals and eventually, after many more episodes, one of them will be crowned the winner.

"I'm really quite shocked by this," Greg said. "Genuinely really shocked and thankful and amazed and everything else. But I'm going to have to massively up my game now. I think."

Meanwhile, Dillian made a terrible cooking show pun about counting his chickens...

Elsewhere in the MasterChef kitchen, viewers weren't massively impressed with Wednesday's episode, as Martha and Elizabeth were tasked with making lobster and pasta – and by that we mean making pasta from scratch.

Greg and Dillian, on the other hand, had to make some meatballs.

Celebrity MasterChef continues on Monday (September 23) at 8pm on BBC One.
