Celebrity MasterChef viewers are all making the same Steps jokes about H
The BBC cooking contest returned with a brand new batch of celebrities in the kitchen.
What did you miss?
Celebrity MasterChef returned to the kitchen with a brand new batch of famous contestants and viewers all had the same Steps jokes about Ian "H" Watkins.
Despite H admitting to mainly having cooked in an air fryer before taking on the show, he impressed judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace with his natural talent.
However, fans of the show couldn't resist a few cheeky jokes referring to his many hits with 90s pop group Steps.
What, how, and why?
Celebrity MasterChef has welcomed its first five contestants of the new series to the kitchen - Charlotte Crosby, Craig Doyle, Edith Bowman, Snoochie Shy and Ian "H" Watkins.
But while the standard of cooking was generally high, viewers were distracted by making the same Steps jokes about H as he navigated the challenges.
At the start of the episode, H admitted: "I'm nervous because all I've ever known, please don't judge me, is a microwave and an air fryer."
He went on to put up an impressive fight, but one viewer couldn't help referring to Steps hit Tragedy as they commented: "H isn't going to be any good is he? What a tragedy."
Someone else added: "If H doesn't do well here it will be a... ...darn shame."
In the first challenge, H was presented with a plate of prawns, something he had never cooked before and mistook for lobsters.
One viewer joked: "How many prawns has H got? 5? 6? 7? 8?" Someone else wrote: "H will be alright if he follows steps 5, 6, 7, 8 on his recipe."
As he presented his dinner party menu of poussin and vegetables, one person wrote: "H’s potato looks like a deeper shade of blue."
But despite the jokes, H was sent straight through to the next round and one viewer jokingly commented: "H could be a step above the rest here."
What else happened on Celebrity MasterChef?
H wasn't the only celebrity to impress the judges - This Morning's Craig Doyle's dishes were also a hit, even when he was challenged to cook sweetbreads.
Radio DJ Edith Bowman did well in the first heat too, as did Geordie Shore star Charlotte Crosby who even cried as her paella was complimented.
It was radio star Snoochie Shy who fell foul of the first elimination, being sent home after serving up a peach crumble that even dessert fan Wallace deemed too sweet to eat.
Celebrity MasterChef airs on BBC One at 8pm on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
