With so many people still working remotely, the shift of focus from make-up to skincare looks set to continue.

Some people saw their complexions get worse during lockdown, with the perfect storm of stress, poor diet and a lack of vitamin D causing lockdown acne. Others found going makeup-free and avoiding the pollution of their daily commute had a positive impact, and allowing them more time to research new must-try skincare ingredients and products (alongside watching an unhealthy amount of Netflix and Disney, obvs).

With the world slowly adapting to a "new normal," many work-from-home set ups still remain, and celebrity skincare expert Nurse Jamie has some very clear advice for people wanting to continue their good-skin journey between emails and Zoom meetings.

"Our skin is our largest organ, and its main function is to protect," she explains. "It's really important that we get our products to penetrate properly without over exfoliating."

Jamie goes on to share the advice she gives all her celebrity clients (the likes of Huda Kattan, Jessica Alba and Hilary Duff) and it involves something you might not get away with doing in a busy office:

"I recommend adding a beauty tool to your regimen. I think that the future of skin care starts at home with at-home solutions. I look at skincare products as the fuel and the beauty tool as the automobile – you need both to get somewhere."

The Nurse Jamie UpLift Facial Massaging Beauty Roller, £55 is so popular among celebrities such as Chrissy Teigen and Jenna Dewan, that you'll often spot it lying among their beauty products while stalking their Instagram Stories (you do that too, right?) It glides over the face in a rolling motion, so doesn't drag at the skin, gently increasing blood flow and leaving a subtle lifted effect.

"Those who massage their faces regularly have more blood flow to the skin, which gives their complexion a healthy and natural glow," explains Jamie. "But there's such thing as "bad touch,"" she goes on to explain. "Rubbing your skin too hard could give you contact dermatitis, whereas soft massage and patting allows for better product absorption and increased circulation."
