Celebs Go Dating's dating agents Paul Carrick Brunson and Tom Read Wilson have revealed that one cast member had trouble with the show's new format.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, E4 has turned its hit reality format into Celebs Go Virtual Dating, where its cast must develop connections through appropriate social-distancing measures.
"I was surprised by how apprehensive he was, and I was also surprised at his assessment of what he thinks his dating gifts are, because I would say they're totally different to what I think they are," Carrick Brunson explained.
While Pete the Pirate felt his strongest attributes were his "physical prowess" and "seduction", Read Wilson disagreed: "I think his real skill set lies in flirtatious badinage and persiflage and making their grey cells dance and really stimulating them.
"So, I actually think he's probably the most suitable for a virtual conduit where you're really thinking from the neck up."
In the end, Pete went along with the virtual format, though fans thought he may have actually had a romantic connection with fellow celebrity dater Shaughna Phillips.
Asked recently if they were dating, Pete told OK! Magazine: "Do you know what it is, I can't even say hello to a woman without someone thinking that there's something going on. Shaughna's a really nice girl but there's definitely no truth in that.
"She's a nice girl that's come out of Love Island, she's single, I'm single, we're doing the same sort of thing, working together and people have just jumped the gun but there's definitely no truth in that whatsoever."
Celebs Go Virtual Dating airs on Mondays at 10pm on E4.
