E4's Celebs Go Dating has been accused of manipulating a recent episode by one of its civilian daters, with Adele Woodward claiming the reality show had been deliberately edited to make her look "fat and miserable".

Adele, who went on a date with Lee Ryan, told The Mirror that she believes the programme was "edited very badly on purpose", and that producers chose to use an out-of-date photograph of the 35-year-old civil servant.

In the episode, Lee told the camera that Adele wasn't what he was "expecting". "She doesn't exactly look like the picture Paul and Anna showed me," he said.

Hitting back at the show, which is currently in its seventh series, Adele said: "The whole thing in my opinion was completely set up to make me look like a catfish.

"The date, the way it is edited, makes it look like I'm miserable and not speaking. It's not the case. There were four hours of footage there. They chose to pick those bits where I'm not speaking and looking unimpressed."

Adele also claimed that she was "prompted" to talk about Blue by crew behind-the-scenes, and that Celebs Go Dating had wrongly portrayed her as a "die-hard Blue fan".

Opening up about the photograph used by the dating agency, which she said was taken four years ago, Adele added: "That's what they've shown him, knowing full well that's not what I look like.

"I do look like that now as I've lost about a stone since the show."

In response to Adele's claims, a spokesperson for Celebs Go Dating told Digital Spy that "contributors' welfare is of paramount importance" to the show and stressed all contributors are offered support at every stage of the process.

"As part of our thorough duty of care processes, all contributors are fully briefed prior and post filming as well as spoken to by senior members of our team before and after the show airs. They are offered full support throughout," the statement continued.

Celebs Go Dating was hit with more claims of questionable editing last week, after fans noticed a continuity error during Megan Barton Hanson's meeting with experts Anna and Paul.

Celebs Go Dating airs on E4.
