Iconic vocalist Celine Dion is rumoured to be joining the line-up for the highly anticipated Eurovision Song Contest. Following her dynamic performance at this year's Paris Olympics, the 56-year-old star is reportedly set to return nearly four decades on from winning Eurovision.

The Canadian singer represented Switzerland in the 1988 contest and won it by one point, defeating the UK in the process. That win launched her meteroric rise to fame, reports the Mirror.

Next year's contest returns to Switzerland for the first time since Celine's victory after Nemo secured the title earlier this year. It is thought that Celine is poised for a return to the event despite grappling with Stiff Person Syndrome.

In conversation with the Eurovis-Huns podcast, Moritz Stadler, the Executive Co-Producer of Eurovision 2025, was coy about confirming Celines participation but couldnt hide his admiration. He said: "We're building up a great show. And you are right, Celine Dion is a legend.

"I'm not going to tell you right now. I'm sure you understand because you guys need to have a bit of suspense between now and next May."

The songstress undoubtedly lit up the stage during the Opening Ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics, marking a triumphant performance that came in the wake of her battle with Stiff Person's Syndrome. Remarkably, it was her first live performance post-diagnosis, where she powerfully rendered Edith Piaf's 'L'Hymne a l'amour' at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, moments following the iconic torch lighting ceremony.

Mr Stadler said: "There are slots throughout the year where you will discover a lot of amazing things."

Stiff Person Syndrome is a condition that makes the muscles in the body stiffen and cause spasms. Speaking previously about the condition, Celine said: "I'm sorry it's taken me so long to reach out to you. I miss you all so much and can't wait to be on stage talking to you in person.

"I've been dealing with problems with my health for a long time and it's been really difficult for me to face my challenges and to talk about everything that I've been going through. Recently I've been diagnosed with a very rare neurological disorder called the stiff person syndrome which affects one in a million people. All I know is singing, it's what I've done all my life, and it's what I love to do the most."

Celine is planning to organise a string of performances over the next few years, following her hugely successful appearance at the Paris Olympics. "A source close to the star told In Touch magazine: "She's determined to keep proving everyone wrong by performing again. The success of this has only made her even more hungry to perform again.

She's working on plans for her next performance. The source said: "It doesn't mean she's out of the woods or over this horrible disease, there's still a long road ahead. She will need to keep fighting every day towards her healing, but she's not giving up and intends to keep fighting and setting a positive example for her fans and for anyone battling this disease."
