Celtic will consider a move for Israel striker Shon Weissman should they lose Odsonne Edouard to a Premier League club.

The Scottish champions are determined to keep Edouard, 22, for next season’s attempt at 10 consecutive titles but their France forward has attracted interest from English clubs such as Arsenal.

Weissman, who has been prolific for Wolfsberger AC in the Austrian Bundesliga, is one of their priorities should they need to bolster their attack when the next transfer window opens.

He has scored 29 goals in 30 appearances this season, including strikes against Roma and Borussia Monchengladbach in the Europa League, during his debut season after arriving from Maccabi Haifa.

The 24-year-old agreed a two-year deal last summer and with just one full season left on his current, he could be available for around £4.5million depending on how the transfer market looks following the coronavirus pandemic when the Scottish Premiership was curtailed.

Weissman was given a series of loans while at Maccabi but his move to Austria saw him called up to the full Israel squad and his form has caught the eye of Celtic among other clubs in Europe.

Edouard has become the latest highly-rated player to attract attention with his form at Celtic, with the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Moussa Dembele playing at Parkhead in recent seasons.

The 22-year-old found the net 28 times this season, his third campaign in Scotland after arriving in Scotland in a £10million deal from Paris Saint-Germain.

While he has two full seasons left on his contract, Premier League clubs are looking at him as a striker who could swiftly make the transition to England.

Both Weissman and Edouard played in the Europa this season, with Celtic dropping into the second-tier competition when they lost to CFR Cluj in the Champions League.
