Central Park Is ‘Done’ After Three Seasons at Apple TV+, Josh Gad Says

The animated comedy-musical Central Park has come to an end after three seasons at Apple TV+, star and co-creator Josh Gad shared on Threads on Sunday.

In response to a fan’s post asking when the show would be coming back, Gad revealed, “Sadly, it’s done.”

This would be the streamer’s second cancellation in just four days following last Thursday’s news that Swagger will not be returning. TVLine has reached out to Apple TV+ for comment.

Central Park follows the Tillermans, a family that lives in the titular New York City locale. As park manager Owen (voiced by Leslie Odom Jr.) and journalist Paige (Kathryn Hahn) raise their kids (Emmy Raver-Lampman and Tituss Burgess), they must fend off hotel heiress Bitsy Brandenham (Stanley Tucci) and her long-suffering assistant (Daveed Diggs), who would love nothing more than to turn the park into condos. The series is narrated by Gad’s character, Birdie, who is a park performer. The Season 3 finale, which will now serve as the series finale, dropped on Nov. 18, 2022.

The show ignited controversy in 2020 for originally casting Kristen Bell as Molly, who is mixed race, in Season 1. During the middle of its freshman run, the producing team announced Bell would not return for Season 2, saying they wanted to “get representation right — to cast a Black or mixed race actress and give Molly a voice that resonates with all of the nuance and experiences of the character as we’ve drawn her.” She was ultimately replaced by Raver-Lampman for the final two seasons, but returned in Season 3 in a new role as Abby, Paige’s sister.
