CES Asia 2016: This App-Controlled Smart Teapot Will Make The Perfect Brew For You

A tech startup has developed a wi-fi-connected tea maker that brews the user’s tea all in one place, with no need for a kettle.

The connected ‘Qi Aerista’ teapot boils the water, brews the tea and keeps it warm at the touch of a button.

All users need to do is add water to the heat-resistant glass pot and pop the tea leaves or tea bags into the infuser at the top. This keeps the tea separate from the water so there’s no need for a tea strainer if using loose tea.

They can then choose from 6 preset programmes, each with specific brewing temperatures and times, depending on the type of tea, then sit back and watch the tea brew automatically.

What’s more, because the tea is keep separate from the water, it won’t stew when using the ‘keep warm’ mode.

Users can also pick the strength of their brew - light, medium or strong.

There are two models on offer, one standalone pot and a connected version that works with a smartphone app.

The app enables users to go beyond the presets and tweak their own programme for their favourite teas while an interactive tea library offers up information on the origins of different teas along with suggested brewing settings

The connected pot was unveiled by maker Keyway Innovations at a showcase for tech startups at gadget show CES Asia.

The Qi Aerista will be hitting crowdfunding site Kickstarter in August.
