Ceviche founder to take Peru fans on a bus tour of his restaurants for Food Month

Diners looking to embrace the tastes and cultures of Peru without leaving London will be able to hop aboard a bus and explore the country’s cuisine.

Martin Morales, the chef and founder of the Ceviche group, is hosting a one-off Peruvian Bus Tour, taking guests to his four London restaurants to showcase the best food from his native land.

He said the experience, which will take place in the evening of June 11 and has a capacity of 40, will transport guests from the beaches of the capital city of Lima to the Andina regions via the Amazon jungle.

Those on the tour, which costs £60, will start at Ceviche Soho, where they will dine on ceviche. Peru’s national dish, consisting of raw fish cured in citrus juice, is most common in Lima.

To a soundtrack of Afro-Peruvian music, Londoners will also enjoy seafood such as scallops, octopus and bass while sipping a pisco sour. The drink is a mixture of lemon juice, egg white, syrup and the national spirit, pisco.

Next is Casita Andina, around the corner on Great Windmill Street in Soho, where food influenced by Cusco — the City of the Incas — will be showcased. Combining the ingredients of Peru with British produce, dishes such as pan-fried hake, served with rocoto pepper sauce and choclo corn arepa — a sort of maize dough pitta — with black tobiko, or roe, will be served.

From there, the bus will visit Andina in Shoreditch, where diners will sample food based on dishes from Arequipa in southern Peru. The menu will include pan-fried secreto Iberico, a cut of pork, served with chancaca honey glaze and cauliflower cream. The tour concludes at Ceviche Old Street, where an Amazonian feast will be served against the backdrop of its Peruvian art collection.

Mr Morales, chef and tour guide for the evening, said: “Ceviche’s Peru Bus Tour will allow us to showcase the diversity of Peruvian cuisine, music and art and the distinctive personalities of each of our restaurants with a regional, artistic and creative focus.”

Executive chef Vitelio Reyes said: “The tour will be a voyage of discovery and flavour that will give people a huge insight in to the food of my country.”

The tour will take place on Sunday June 11 at 5pm. Details of how to book will be available on londonfoodmonth.co.uk from May 2.
