Mastermind host John Humphries recently stepped down from the famous BBC quiz after 18 years, creating a vacancy that we are sure a lot of TV stars would like to fill.
The Chase's own Dark Destroyer, Shaun Wallace, has now thrown his name into the ring, revealing that he's got his eye on the job.
"If I got to be the host of Mastermind, it would be a tremendous honour," he said (via Daily Star).
"It would go to show that television looks at diverse talent irrespective of your skin colour, gender or sexuality.
"And it would give encouragement to people that you can come from nowhere and end up being something if you’ve got the talent."
Shaun has a history with the show, having appeared on it as a contestant all the way back in the halcyon days of 2004. Understandably for someone who went on to become a chaser, he did very well, winning the series using his impressive knowledge of FA Cup Finals.
Speaking when he announced his departure, Humphries wrote in his Daily Mail column: "I wish my successor well — but I'm not sure I envy them, whoever 'they' may be. What are the odds on the first female?
"Mastermind is one of those programmes you tinker with at your peril. Allow a contender to choose a light-hearted subject and the cry goes out: 'Dumbing down!' Change the format even slightly and you are 'sexing up'. Believe me, it's not just the contestants who are in the spotlight."
Well, it sounds like Shaun is up for the challenge.
