Gartcairn boss Mick Dunlop has set his sights on taking a scalp from back-to-back West of Scotland Premier League champions Beith on Saturday – and says the Airdrie side go into the game with confidence.

Dunlop’s men beat Hurlford United 2-0 on Saturday, with goals from Mark McGuigan and Kamil Krol, while keeper Kieran Hughes saved a penalty.

Dunlop reckons his side are flying as they move up to 10th, and is looking forward to the clash.

“We played them towards the end of last season, it was 4-4 down there, and they’ve won the league back-to-back, so we will be expecting nothing less than a very tough game,” said Dunlop.

“They’re a good side, they won 4-0 in the junior cup at the weekend, and I don’t think they’ve lost many games either.

“We’ve got to be going into the game in a good frame of mind now, confidence is definitely coming back and we just need to try and build on that and create as much momentum as we can.”

On Saturday’s win, Dunlop said: “It was the first home win of the season.

“After the first three games, which was a poor start, the last four games in the leagues were two wins, a draw and a defeat, so we’re coming into a bit better form.

“I was happy with a home win, a clean sheet, and it’s three points on the board.

“I’m still looking for us to do better, but it’s definitely a big improvement.”
