The Championship free agents Coventry City could still sign right now
The transfer window may have closed for clubs across the UK, but there’s still a chance for Coventry City and their rivals to add to their squads over the coming weeks.
The Sky Blues have had a fairly busy summer on the recruitment front, with Mark Robins drafting in seven new arrivals to add to the substantial overhaul of his squad the previous summer.
City couldn’t get one more over the line on transfer deadline day when Kasey Palmer ‘forced’ a move to league rivals Hull, with many fans feeling that has left the team short. Since then it has been claimed that Robins is interested in taking former Leicester City loan player Matty James.

The 33-year-old, who enjoyed an impressive half-season at the club from January 2021, was released by Bristol City this summer after coming to the end of his three year contract. He’s currently training back with the Foxes to keep fit while he looks for another club.
It remains to be seen whether James or any other free agents will be of interest to the Sky Blues in a bid to further strengthen the squad.
