After a week of some pretty harrowing scenes – okay, we're mainly talking about THAT back, sack and crack wax on Andrew – it was time for tonight's (July 21) double eviction on Big Brother.

This dual booting follows last week's one, which saw Simone and Hurricane Sue departing for the real world after their Big Brother stint. Tonight, it was Chanelle, Ellie, Hannah, Kieran and Tom up for the chop.

Of course, after the mad antics of Wednesday's episode we knew that Sam was leaving the house tonight, as Andrew chose to evict him after being given the power to remove another housemate as a perk of winning £18,900 from the winner's prize in the Steal task.

So, once Sam's inevitable exit was over and done with and he had his chat with Emma Willis, it wasn't long before we saw that the first of the two housemates to leave was Chanelle.

Speaking to Emma in the post-eviction interview, Chanelle said she wasn't surprised it was she who was evicted.

"The people I was up against, I did think it would be me or Hannah, just because we're a bit Marmite-y – you either love us or you hate us.

"I'd rather it be me go, rather than Hannah – she's come so far in her journey, and she's got so much to show – and I'm happy that the sisters haven't been separated."

When asked who she would like to see leave the house next, she plumped for Kieran: "He doesn't get involved. He's quite serious. I say 'let's have a dance-off – let's do this, let's do that', and he never wants to. He just goes 'no', and he is quite grumpy."

With Chanelle now fully part of the outside world again, it was time to see who was next to be extracted. And that person was: Ellie, who was met pretty roundly with cheers from the crowd awaiting her exit.

She made the audience laugh when she admitted she treated the experience like a no-responsibility vacation: "I were on holiday. You don't go to Benidorm for two weeks and clean."

And going on to talk about Sam and how their relationship might carry on in the outside world, Ellie said: "I'd like to get to know him out of the house. It would be nice to go to a normal pub and have a normal drink."

Big Brother airs on Channel 5.
