Rochdale Council has announced changes to their bin collection dates over Christmas and New Year.

Households across the borough may see changes to when they see the big wagons coming to collect their rubbish depending on where they live and their usual pick up days. Some waste and recycling collection dates will remain unchanged though.

Bin collections scheduled for Christmas Day (Wednesday, December 25) will be moved to Saturday, December 28. Collections scheduled for Boxing Day (Thursday, December 26) will move to Monday, December 30 and those scheduled for New Year’s Day (Wednesday, January 1) move to Saturday, January 4.

The council has advised that any additional paper and cardboard is dry, flattened, and secured next to your bin and that extra mixed recycling is in a clear container or bag, so the contents can clearly be seen. Extra bags of general waste should not be left out and should be taken to your local recycling centre.

Town hall bosses outlined that real Christmas trees can be put inside brown bins but bases and decorations should be removed and they must be chopped so that they fit inside - and the lid must be able to close.

Trees can also take it to one of the recycling points located across the borough, or to one of the household waste and recycling centres. Christmas tree recycling points are open from Monday, January 6 until Friday, January 17.
