Changes to planned A63 closures in Hull with some 'no longer required'
A number of planned overnight closures on the A63 in Hull are "no longer required" as "strong progress" is made on the new underpass at Mytongate junction.
National Highways had previously announced several weeks of evening and night closures relating to the ongoing Castle Street project. These began on Monday, November 18 and continued through each night this week, including one scheduled this evening (Friday) when the A63 will be closed in both directions from Daltry Street to Roger Millward Way from 9.30pm until 6am on Saturday.
A similar series of closures were due to take place each night next week from Monday 25 to Friday, November 29 but these have now been cancelled as they are 'no longer needed'.

The next set of overnight closures, starting on Monday, December 9, will "go ahead as planned". These are scheduled to continue for nine weeknights before a two-week break over the Christmas and New Year period.
Another 20 nights of closures are lined up throughout January. During all the closures, a fully-signed diversion will be in place via the A15, A164, A1079 and A1033 for eastbound traffic, and vice versa for westbound.
On social media, a spokesperson for National Highways said: "This next planned phase comes after successful completion of work at Market Place to rebuild the slip roads at both sides of the junction at Queen Street and Market Place and create a central island.
"The new underpass structure is now fully excavated - a major milestone for the project. The next challenge for the team is to lay the concrete slab to form the base of the underpass.
"The work from November through to the end of January will include reconfiguring some of the traffic layout, installation of new barriers, work on the road surfaces, and specialist work in the underpass.
"Some of the work will require a crane positioned in the carriageway, which means overnight closures are essential.
"We’re working to avoid the main Christmas period, pausing work on Thursday 19 December and will restart on Monday 6 January.
"For most of the overnight work we will close later than normal, instead of 8pm we will close at 9.30pm."
The A63 Castle Street upgrade project began in early 2020 with completion expected in 2025. It will see a new junction created after the level of the A63 was lowered at Mytongate as part of its construction. There has also been work to widen the road between Princes Dock Street and Market Place.
