Cheltenham's Park and Ride service from Arle Court is set to undergo improvements. From Sunday (December 1), changes will be implemented to enhance the efficiency of the service for those working, shopping or visiting Cheltenham town centre.

The frequency of buses will be increased, with services now running every 15 minutes instead of every 20 minutes on weekdays, providing more convenience for passengers. Additionally, the current single-decker buses will be replaced by double-decker buses featuring more seats and a new eye-catching livery, which will be introduced in due course.

These vehicles will utilise the lowest emission diesel engines available to help improve local air quality. A variety of flexible fares are available, offering value compared to town centre car parks.

Saturday services will continue to run every 20 minutes, starting at 8.05am, an hour later than the current schedule. The Park and Ride service operates from the new Arle Court Transport Hub to the Promenade in Cheltenham town centre, via the Montpellier shops and gardens.

Gloucestershire County Council has awarded a new contract to Stagecoach to enhance the Park and Ride service into Cheltenham, providing passengers with more frequent journeys. In preparation for the changes, regular users are advised to review the updated timetables before travelling, with further information available at www.stagecoach.com.

Cllr Philip Robinson, Cabinet member for bus transport, said: "I am delighted that we have been able to award this new contract to Stagecoach, and, in doing so, add a number of improvements to the Park and Ride. It's the best way to travel into Cheltenham for work, leisure or for your Christmas shopping."

Chris Hanson, Managing Director of Stagecoach West, highlighted the importance of customer feedback in driving the improvements: "Our customers are at the heart of everything we do, so when feedback revealed a need for more journeys on this route, we listened and implemented these improvements."

"The Park and Ride service is a tendered contract from Gloucestershire County Council, and thanks to them, we're delighted to increase the number and frequency of journeys during the week into Cheltenham Town Centre, starting from Sunday, December 1."
