Channel 4 seems to have encountered a glitch in the matrix tonight (July 14), as viewers noticed programmes and adverts airing out of schedule.
As noted by TV Zone on Twitter, the broadcaster went off air just before 8pm, before running a repeat of Love It or List It instead of the scheduled new episode, and in standard definition rather than HD.
The show aired without ad breaks, while on-demand service All4's live feed cut to random commercial breaks during the episode. Grand Designs seemed to carry on the same way.
"We're having some tech issues on C4 tonight – the eagle eyed amongst you may have spotted that some of our scheduling has gone awry," the Channel 4 Twitter account said. "We're very sorry about that and are doing all we can to sort it. In the meantime stand by for updates....."
The channel then stated that Aisling Bea and Sharon Horgan's comedy This Way Up would start at 9.45pm, before retracting that and stating that it was "all fun games" trying to figure out what's going on.
Digital Spy tuned in to Channel 4 at about 9.50pm and saw ten minutes of adverts for C4 programmes and long versions of their idents without voiceover.
Then, This Way Up started at 10pm, in HD and with a regular ad break at a regular time. For now, it looks like everything is fixed.
