Peep Show star Olivia Colman has been confirmed for a new television role. The Oscar-winning actress will be reading a CBeebies Bedtime Story, specifically Julia Donaldson's The Gruffalo's Child, set to air on Friday, November 8.

The story unfolds on "one wild and windy night" when "the Gruffalo's child ignores her father's warnings and bravely tiptoes out into the snow in search of the Big Bad Mouse". The synopsis reveals that during her adventure, she encounters Snake, Owl and Fox, but there's no sign of the fabled Mouse.

"On her big adventure, she meets Snake, Owl and Fox, but there's no sign of the fabled Mouse. He doesn't really exist... or does he? " it teases. "I have loved CBeebies Bedtime Stories with my children over the years, I was so excited to be able to read one. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did," said Colman.

Currently, the star can be seen in the third instalment of Paddington, Paddington in Peru, where she portrays The Reverend Mother. Earlier this year, Colman criticised the gender pay gap in Hollywood during an interview with CNN's Christiane Amanpour, stating: "Don't get me started on the pay disparity but male actors get paid more because they used to say they draw in the audiences. Actually, that hasn't been true for decades. But they still like to use that as a reason to not pay women as much as their male counterparts. I'm very aware that if I was Oliver Colman, I'd be earning a f**k of a lot more than I am... Absolutely yes, I'm aware of [it]. I know of one pay disparity, which is a 12,000 per cent difference. Do the maths."

Olivia Colman's CBeebies Bedtime Story is set to broadcast at 6.50pm on Friday, November 8, available on CBeebies and BBC iPlayer.
