Channel 4 made a crazy decision to switch their Sunday night schedule with little explanation and cancel the fifth episode of Homeland season six last night.

But the disruption enraged viewers who couldn’t bare to miss even a moment of the thrilling political drama and took to social media in their droves to slam the broadcaster.

Homeland finally returned to screens last month and has had fans gripped from the start, as Clare Danes reprised her role as the Central Intelligence Agency officer Carrie Mathison who battles with bipolar disorder and in this season, the turmoil caused by the incoming of a new US president.

Homeland regulars Peter Quinn and Saul Berenson are also back in the Emmys and Golden Globes award winning series.

So, when loyal fans completed their Sunday chores, made their tea and settled into their sofas to watch the next installment, they couldn’t believe their eyes and ears when they were presented with a re-run of ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’.

One fan named Scott Hamilton wrote: “This is Sunday niht isn’t it? Where’s my Homeland? Channel 4… Where’s my Homeland?? (sic)”

Oh Scott, you were not alone.

Another viewer, Andrew J Myers, hadn’t realised the misery that was yet to come, when he wrote alongside an emoji of a smug face: “I got home too late for #Homeland but realised there’s Channel + 1 (sic).”

Fans will be relieved to know that the political drama is due to continue on screens next Sunday February 26 at 9pm.
